I sit alone, with friends, in the dark.
They hide in the shadows with me and whisper in my ears.
Fear, Sorrow, Anger, Pain, Fury, and Love.
These are the names of my friends in the dark.
Hope used to hang around, but “she” took all of mine away.
“You’ll always be alone,” Fear tells me again.
Pain twists my heart and pulls teardrops from my eyes.
Anger and Fury try to rile me up in a tornado of hatred for my destroyer.
But Sorrow uses all of my strength to dwell on the past and ruins their fun.
Love sits in the corner, battered and beaten.
It knows I’ll force it out again, and lets slip a whimper.
“I’m in Hell,” I cry.
I sit alone, with friends, in the dark.
